14-year-old who died following sand dunes incident named

The 14-year-old, from St Brelade, was pronounced dead a short time after the incident, which happened between 5 pm and 6 pm.

Police, firefighters and paramedics all attended the incident.

In a statement, the States police said: ‘Officers are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident.

‘The family have asked that they are allowed to grieve in private at this difficult time.’

Les Quennevais School, which Eoin attended, opened on Sunday.

Head teacher Sarah Hague said:

‘It is with huge sadness that we have learned that the boy who died in a tragic accident on Friday evening is Eoin Corcoran, one of our Year 10 students.

‘Eoin was a gentle and caring young boy who was much loved by all members of our school community.

‘He was a lovely student, easy to be around, a good friend and credit to his family and our school.

‘Our hearts go out to his family at this very difficult and sad time. Eoin will be greatly missed by us all.’
