Rachel Jones, the daughter of Gwynn and Kate Jones, will share all the fun of Battle day and the Moonlight Parade with Miss Battle of Flowers, Chantelle Mundy, and Mr Battle, Craig Phillips.

She will ride with them on their float and accompany them on their other duties.

‘Being in the parade and seeing everyone’s smiling faces and all the excitement will just be amazing,’ said Rachel.

She was crowned by Miss Junior Battle 2014, Paige Higgins, and the judges were Miss Mundy and Princess Belle and Princess Rapunzel from events and party company Happily Ever After.

The competition, held at the Battle of Flowers Funfair, was compèred by BBC Radio Jersey presenter Sara Palmer, who interviewed the ten contestants before the judges selected a shortlist of five.

In addition to Miss Jones, the five finalists were Aimée Bienvenue (11) from St Brelade, who has just finished La Moye School, Lucie Loake (8) from Plat Douet School, Mia Sharples (12), a student at Les Quennevais School, and Lucy Ann Richford (10), who attends JCG Prep.

The other contestants were Lauren Vibert (9) from Les Landes School, Isla Staverley (10) who goes to Beaulieu, Abbi Jones (11) who starts at Haute Vallée in September, Lizzie Roxburgh (11) of JCG and Rachel Haycock (11), who is moving from Samarès Primary School to Le Rocquier.

  • 1996 saw Charlotte Newlands and David Dawson become the final junior pair, as the competitions were scrapped in 1997.
