A WELL-KNOWN electronics store at Charing Cross is up for sale after almost 50 years.

Barry Jenkins, proprietor of Fotosound, said that he was selling the business as the lease had expired and he wanted a “well-deserved break”.

“I cannot wait to resign,” the owner said.

Mr Jenkins added that although there were some interested parties, no buyers had been confirmed yet.

The electronics and printing store opened in 1976 and received a top Sony award for its marketing efforts in 2004.

Mr Jenkins said that the products for sale and the suppliers which the shop bought from had “changed dramatically” over the years.
