Adoption by same sex couples to be made easier

Currently, a man – and therefore a gay male couple – is prevented from adopting a female child in Jersey unless he can prove to the Royal Court that there are ‘special circumstances’ which justify his application.

But yesterday, the Assembly voted 36 to three in favour of removing that condition and allowing homosexual couples or single males to go through the same adoption process as married men and women.
