A blue BMW was seen overtaking a white van on Queen’s Road seconds before the car struck a Ford Focus parked outside a house and shunted it into the property.
Both vehicles and the house were severely damaged.
One of the two people in the BMW had to be cut free from the car by firefighters. Both were taken to hospital and were later discharged.
No one was inside the house at the time of the impact.
The States police say that a man in his 40s, believed to be the car’s driver, has been arrested.
In a statement, the force said: ‘Police are speaking to a number of witnesses regarding the incident and have learned that a number of bystanders may have footage of the incident or the aftermath on their phones.
‘Police would like to speak to anyone who has photographic or video footage or indeed who saw the incident in an effort to assist the investigation.’
The accident happened just a day after a crash on Bagatelle Road in St Saviour which left a 29-year-old woman in hospital with fractured ribs and a partially collapsed lung.
Anyone with information about the Queen’s Road incident, which happened at about 9.30pm on Friday, is being asked to phone the States police on 612612 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
