Aryna Sabalenka reached her third WTA Tour final of the season at the Connecticut Open.
The 20-year-old from Belarus has been one of the breakout stars of the year and has built on her brilliant form from Cincinnati last week, where she reached the semi-finals.
Sabalenka’s latest victim was fifth seed Julia Goerges, the Wimbledon semi-finalist going down 6-4 7-6 (7/3).

“I’m so happy that I finished this match in two sets. I’m so happy to play at this level and be again in a final. It’s a chance for me to show my best tennis, tomorrow and hopefully I’ll get my first title. #CTOpenTennis pic.twitter.com/qJWgiBjpxg

After losing her first three finals, including in Lugano and Eastbourne this year, Sabalenka will look to make it fourth time lucky when she takes on Carla Suarez Navarro on Saturday.
The Spaniard did not need to finish her match against Olympic gold medallist Monica Puig, who pulled out through injury with the score at 4-4 in the first set.
