CCC riders raced again in Brittany and qualified for the six-rider CC Plancoët team.

Caesarean Cycling Club members Jay Cracknell and Jack Rebours were racing for CC Plancoët (CCP) at Saint-Pôtan, in Brittany, last weekend.

A total of 80 riders started the 120km race, with a mix of first, second and third category riders attending.

Six laps of a larger 15km circuit were followed by six laps of a 5km finishing circuit. The main features of the larger lap were a short punchy climb and twisty narrow roads.

A fast start and strong cross-winds reduced the CCP advantage of a large team, and the 80 riders soon split into several groups. With CC Plancoët having a rider in the lead group, Cracknell and Rebours did not try to bridge across, as potentially they could assist rival team riders in doing so.

With two laps to go, this was no longer an issue, and Jay decided to go on his own. Initially no one followed, but on the last lap he had two pursuing him, and Jay eased off to allow them to catch him and then shelter on their wheels until just before the finish line, where he managed to outsprint them to the line.

Rebours also went on his own, and managed to leave the group with his teammate Cracknell placing 23rd overall and Rebours himself ending in 26th, which was seventh and eighth respectively in the Open 2 category they were racing in, with CC Plancoët rider Enzo Latimier fourth in the overall race.

Based on the two Caesarean riders’ results, they have been selected to join a six-strong CC Plancoët team to race Grand Prix des Jumelages in Viré, Normandy, in early May.
