Jersey Women’s counties campaign continues in Kent
GROUP leaders Kent FA stand between Jersey Women and a positive Southern Counties Cup concluder and head coach Chad Morris is expecting a tough trip.
Without the services of the St Lawrence FC contingent – taking a break from representative football in this non-Island Games year – Morris has just 12 outfield players available for Thursday night's clash at Chatham Town, including eight from Rozel Rovers.
However, with the likes of debutant Hannah Campbell travelling in a rich vein of form, having scored four against Grouville last weekend, there is hope that the Caesareans will have enough firepower to end the group on a high.
UK-based Megan Wood (Yeovil) is unavailable for the tie but Southampton goalkeeper Sara Luce and Chichester City midfielder Holly Muirhead are joining up with the squad.
‘Hannah has been in really good form for Rozel in the last five or six games,’ Morris explained. ‘She more than deserves the call up, and we also have Sara back in goal – Southampton have released her to play, which is good.
‘We’re expecting a really tough game but I’m really happy with the squad. All these matches are part of the process in the build up to the Muratti in May.’
Jersey drew 2-2 with the Royal Navy last time out but their chances of progressing past the group stage were already slim by that point, following an 8-1 defeat to Sussex FA in November.
'I'm sick to death of going completely around in a circle... we should be telling the public as soon as possible'
