From 23 July to 2 August, more than 3,000 athletes from across the Commonwealth will compete in Scotland’s largest city, and Jersey’s finest will be among them. To make sure Islanders don’t miss a moment, the JEP sports desk is mounting its most ambitious Games coverage yet, on the ground in Glasgow and back home in Jersey.

This Games Jersey has 22 athletes competing across 5 sports. Initially the team was 21, but weightlifting’s Oliver Dodds got a ‘bipartite invite’ reallocation by Commonwealth Sport and the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF).

Who is covering the Games?

Leading our coverage in Glasgow is a familiar trio. Archie Corbett, known to Islanders from the Sports Podcast, will be joined by Oliver Kidman, whose Try Out Tuesday column has seen him take on everything Island sport has to offer, and Robbie Dark, the man behind the camera for so many of Jersey’s biggest moments.

Back home in the studio, Elliot Corbel, George Marriot and Grant McDonald will provide the deeper analysis and daily round-ups, keeping Islanders on top of every result, every story and every medal moment.

Before the Games

The build-up starts now. In the weeks ahead, our team will bring you previews with each Jersey team, along with in-depth interviews with the athletes, the coaches and the background heroes who make Island sport tick.

Weekly podcast episodes will preview the Games, and our video team will be out with Team Jersey as they make their final preparations for Glasgow.

During the Games

Once the action begins, Archie, Ollie and Robbie will take you as close to it as you can get. Expect poolside, trackside and greenside interviews, and we’ll take you into the dojo and the weights room too.

Jersey’s athletes will be our focus, but we’ll be across all the action from Glasgow. Daily video round-ups will be pushed to the JEP website and our social channels, podcast episodes will be available through the JEP and Bailiwick Express apps, and every day our studio and newsroom back in Jersey will pull it all together in a daily round-up.
