Jersey RFC Men continued their flawless run with a commanding 66–12 win over Camberley at CoinShares Park on Saturday, the second match in a home double-header following the women’s strong performance against Hove.
Already crowned Regional 1 South Central champions after last weekend’s 38–7 win at Bracknell, Jersey made it 20 wins from 20 league games this season in celebration of their remarkable third promotion in four years.
The hosts started at pace. Euan Spencer broke clear after five minutes from a slick Scott Van Breda pass, with Aaron Penberthy converting.
Camberley struck back unexpectedly ten minutes in, Pieto Swart intercepting in his own 22 and sprinting the length of the field to level at 7–7.
Jersey quickly regained control. Lineout mauls proved irresistible: Evan Whitson powered over in the 16th minute, followed by full-back Mark Boarer on 19 minutes.
Hooker Jack Macfarlane’s 16th try of the season came after another dominant maul, Penberthy converting, before Van Breda set up Joe Munns for a further try.
Boarer added a second just before half-time with a smart interception, giving Jersey a 38–7 advantage at the break.
The second half was more of the same. Penberthy scored and converted in the 46th minute, while Van Breda’s creativity set up George Willmott under the posts on 54 minutes.
Whitson bagged his second try from another maul, Camberley grabbed a consolation score through Josh Lovell-Smith, and Willmott completed his brace from Van Breda’s break to cap the scoring at 66–12.
Even with victory wrapped up, captain Whitson’s furious end-of-game instructions showed Jersey are a team that never takes their foot off the gas, already focused on next season’s National League 2 campaign and the looming away Siam Cup clash.
