ASA TRIBE has been drafted for £70,000 by the Welsh Fire in The Hundred 2026 auction.

Tribe, 21, plays his domestic county cricket for Glamorgan CCC and so will return home to Sophia Gardens in Cardiff to represent Wales’ sole side in The Hundred and make his own debut in the competition.

Jersey’s first ever homegrown professional cricketer entered the draft for the first time at the base level salary of £31k. However, significant interest from the Welsh Fire and previous winners London Spirit drove the Jerseyman’s price up.

Tribe will join the ranks of the Welsh side alongside fellow English superstars Joe Root (£240k), Jordan Cox (£300k), Chris Woakes (£110k) and Phil Salt (£450k), as well as international icons in New Zealand’s Lockie Ferguson (£75k) and Rachin Ravindra (£120k) and South Africa’s Marco Jansen (£250k).

Tribe has made a name for himself already in English cricket through his performances for both Glamorgan and the England Lions.

The Hundred 2026 will be his third venture into franchise cricket, having previously featured for the Atlanta Kings in the National Cricket League in America and more recently for the Paarl Royals in the Betway SA20.

Tribe was picked up by the Royals for just £8,000, but an excellent campaign saw his stock rise significantly and recent performances for the England Lions on their white ball tour to Abu Dhabi against the Pakistan Shaheens is sure to have helped in that astronomical price jump.

The 6th edition of The Hundred Hundred is set to commence in July, where Welsh Fire’s first game sees them travel to the Utilita Bowl in Southampton to take on the Southern Brave on July 22.
