ASA TRIBE scored an unbeaten 52 as the England Lions beat the Pakistan Shaheens comfortably by nine wickets in their first unofficial ODI in Abu Dhabi.
Winning the toss and opting to field first, the Lions restricted the Shaheens to just 152, bowling them out in 38.3 overs.
In reply, Tribe earned his first Lions 50-over cap, opening the batting with Durham’s exciting young leftie Ben McKinney. The pair struck a composed opening partnership of 77 before McKinney was stumped for 42 at the end of the 13th over.
Tribe continued in his traditional composed manner, combining excellently with new batter James Rew of Somerset to add a further 77 runs for the second wicket to see his side home.

Tribe finished 52 not out from 64 balls which included six boundaries and was the only half century scored in the match. Rew finished 48 not out from 41 deliveries.
The Tribe/Rew combination is proving a fruitful one for the England Lions. The pair combined brilliantly on Tribe’s red-ball debut at the Manuka Oval, Canberra, where the pair added an unbeaten 137 run partnership at they beat the Prime Minister’s XI on November 29 last year during their tour of Australia.
Tribe also went on to score his maiden Lions century, 129 not out against Australia A on the same tour just a week later.
Tribe’s Lions T20 debut saw him record a match-winning 64 not out against the Pakistan Shaheens just last week. The 21 year old, born and bred from Farmers Caesareans Cricket Club, has now recorded the staggering stat of an unbeaten half century in each of his List A, 50 over and T20 debut’s for the England Lions.
England Test captain Ben Stokes is touring with the Lions currently as a member of the coaching party in Abu Dhabi and there will be no doubt Tribe will be turning some heads with his performances.
England Lions lead their five-game unofficial ODI series with the Pakistan Shaheens 1-0, with game two scheduled to take place on Sunday from 6am GMT.
