JERSEY Wanderers stamped their authority in Premiership 1 with a 3-1 victory over second placed St Clement at Springfield Stadium on Tuesday night.

In a local heavyweight clash, Wanderers extended their winning run to nine straight league matches by seeing off their closest challengers in convincing fashion.

Originally scheduled for Les Quennevais, the fixture was rained off, but swift work behind the scenes ensured the match was able to go ahead at the home of Jersey football.

A cagey first half ended all square, with goals from either side setting the tone for an engaging contest. Harry Scott opened the scoring with an excellent effort that found the far corner, before Karl Hinds responded with a clever header to bring St Clement level.

The red and whites took control after the interval and made superiority count. Archie Corbett turned home from close range after 66 minutes to restore Wanderers’ advantage, before Hugo Pereira produced a delightful dink late on to seal the points.

The result leaves Wanderers clear at the summit, with the Anchors now sitting 11 points adrift of the league leaders.
