JERSEY’S national men’s cricket pathway to the 2028 T20 World Cup has become clearer after the ICC announced the Europe Pathway events for 2026.

With the return of Neil MacRae to the Director of Cricket role, Jersey enters the new year with renewed vigour.

Three regional events are scheduled to take place across Europe throughout the summer, with 30 nations split evenly across Qualifiers A, B and C, known as Sub-Regional Qualification stages.

Jersey have been drawn in Qualifier A, set to take place in Cyprus from 16-23 May. The other nine sides feature Channel Island rivals Guernsey, as well as Austria, Croatia, France, Malta, Slovenia, Sweden, Switzerland and hosts Cyprus.

This will be the first time Cyrus have hosted an ICC T20 World Cup pathway event and it’s first ICC event since 2009.

Qualifier B is scheduled to take place in Denmark in early July, with Qualifier C in Finland in mid August.

As cricket continues its rapid growth throughout Europe, these pathway tournaments will provide emerging and established nations with a crucial opportunity to compete for the ultimate prize and move one step closer to securing a spot at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2028.

England, Ireland, Italy and the Netherlands will enter the pathway at a later stage, owing to their participation in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup next year.

Commenting on the announcement in the ICC’s official announcement, Andy Wright, ICC’s Regional Development Manager – Europe said: “The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2028 pathway will showcase the tremendous depth and development of cricket across Europe.

“We are delighted to partner with Cyprus, Denmark and Finland as hosts—three nations that have demonstrated strong commitment to growing the game. These events will deliver high-quality cricket and provide players with invaluable international experience.”

Further information relating to fixtures, venues and match start times will be announced after the conclusion of the 2026 Men’s T20 World Cup in March next year.
