ENGINES revved their way down to Vautiers on Saturday, as this year’s thrilling Summer Trials Series came to a decisive conclusion.
As this was the final round of the series, the stage at Vautiers was set for dramatic showdowns, being the last chance for competitors to score points in their pursuit for the championship.
Adam Le Cheminault (GasGas) was untouchable on the A route, only dropping seven marks to take class honours. Matt McDonald (Beta) only dropped 12 to remain in contention, but ultimately couldn’t get near Le Cheminault as he placed second, while Josh Troy came straight back from Alderney trials with a podium spot, coming third with 17 lost.
The B+ Route was full of exciting battles, but Jack Moullin (GasGas) rode stunningly, all the way to first place. Kerry Knowles (Beta) rode smooth and steady, locking down the runner-up position with 37 marks, and Conor Carré (Beta) rounded out the podium with 47 dropped.
It was a clean and clinical performance for Rick Morin (Beta), who sealed the deal in the B route class with 18 marks. Richard Blandin (GasGas) came second with 45 dropped, making for a great comeback to modern machinery, and Kieran Gregory (Beta) overcame issue to rank third, with 53 down.
Fresh off a four day French trial, John Philpott (Vertigo 3-stroke) was battered but brilliant, only losing 14 to champion the C+ route. Although Amelia Miller (Beta) missed the first three rounds, she came back swinging to take second, with just 16 marks. Colin Luce (GasGas) had a tidy ride on 22, to place third.
Javier Marquez (Beta 4T) went full gas to top the C route, taking the win with 38 after nearly looping it in Section 7. Even though Amanda Wright (Beta) has been juggling teaching duties, she still bagged second with 75 down, and Emma Youinou (Sherco) had a cracking debut, placing a valiant third in her first ever trial.
Jersey’s young talent was also on display, with several standout performances. Corey Wood (Beta) bossed it on his faithful 80cc, winning Junior B with a cracking ride, 29 marks down.
Junior C Medium Wheel honours were taken by Sam McDonald (Beta), riding brilliantly with 39 marks., while Rafe McDonald (Oset) was fearless on the climbs, topping the Junior C Electric category with 68 marks down.
A massive shout must be given to Nic the landowner, everyone who helped mark out over the morning, and of course the superstar observers – without you, the event simply wouldn’t be running, so thank you.
With all the stages now complete, championships were decided in what has been an amazing Summer Series.
Once again, big thanks to the whole JMC&LCC Trials committee, and that’s another cracking Summer Series in the books.
