Should Jersey’s men win their group in Gotland – ahead of Menorca, Alderney and Orkney – they will play the winners of Group B, possibly the hosts, in the last four on Thursday 29 June at 8.45 pm. The final is scheduled to take place on Friday 30 June at 1 pm.

If the semi-final tie goes to extra-time and penalties, the winning side will have just over 13 hours to recover.

‘It’s bad planning,’ said Jersey’s men’s boss Cassidy.

‘It’s not my job to challenge it, but I’d like to know if there’s an option. That said, you need to be in the semi-final before having the right to challenge it, so let’s just get on with it. This is why you need 20 players in your squad.’

Meanwhile, Jersey’s women will have a two-day rest between their two group games, against the Isle of Wight and Gibraltar, before a potential semi-final against 2015 finalists Aland.

Simon Petulla’s side beat the Scandinavians 1-0 at Springfield two years ago to claim the Island’s first ever women’s gold medal.

Full reaction, plus schedule, in Thursday’s JEP.
