Harvey Biljon’s Reds finished 40-27 in arrears as the Pro 12 outfit put on a display of power and finesse, but the visitors would perhaps have been slightly more uncomfortable had Jersey’s kicking been a little more accurate.
Just one of the Islanders’ six attempts with the boot – an 80th minute under-the-posts-effort from Lewis Robling – gave the touch judges reason to lift their flags, and although that did give the hosts a 22-21 second-half win the game was already well beyond doubt.
Tom Howe’s second try in as many weeks opened the scoring and gave Jersey a 5-0 lead, but touchdowns from Scarlets’ Tom Price, James Davies and Aled Davies ensured that their side went into the break 19-5 up.
Flanker James Freeman grabbed his first try for Jersey off the back of an impressive driving maul before Dave Markham followed suit, but substitutes Will Boyde and Rhodri Williams consolidated Scarlets’ healthy position. Dan Jones – who hit three second-half conversions – set up Ioan Nicholas for Scarlets’ sixth before Jersey added a fourth and fifth of their own in the final ten minutes through Markham and a penalty try.
