Teenage Evans is a class above

In chilly weather at Le Port in St Ouen’s Bay, the 18-year-old Highlands College student won through three rounds to win the title for the first time.

Evans, who was also runner-up in the junior final, said: ‘I wasn’t expecting to win the Open; my main focus was on the junior title as I was CI champion last year.

‘I was really pleased in the end; I was happy with the majority of my manoeuvres and a few good aerials and turns helped me get some good scores from the judges.
