Winstanley, Quénault and Holmes on target

Shooting officials also confirmed that hot-shot Mike Quénault and teenager George Winstanley were bronze medallists in the ten-metre air pistol pairs on Monday. Quénault, who has now stepped on the podium four times this week, and Winstanley added the 25m rapid-fire team gold on Tuesday, while Nikki Holmes topped the scores in the women’s air pistol to push Guernsey’s Rebecca Margetts into the silver position by nine points.

Holmes registered the best two scores among the field – two 92s sandwiched between an opening score of 89 and a fourth round of 85.

Andy Chapman’s 584 ex-600 earned him the gold medal in the men’s 50m prone rifle. Chapman, the head gardener at Maufant Manor, took the title by five points from the Isle of Wight’s Dominic Cowen, as Jersey’s Richard Bouchard placed eighth on 561.
