Russell (25) won the Premiership award, for the first time, at last night’s Jersey Football Combination Awards night at the Hotel L’Horizon in St Brelade.
Russell, who netted 36 times last season, beat fellow forwards Joe Murphy (Jersey Scottish) and Rupert Murray (St Ouen) to the main prize.
The Championship Player of the Year is Trinity’s now retired veteran Peter Grierson (43), while at the other end of the age scale, St Paul’s Cavaghn Miley won the inaugural Junior League U18 trophy.
The ladies’ honours went, for the second time, to First Tower United forward Louise Van der Vliet, and the Referee of the Year Trophy was picked up by Steve Proffitt.
An excellent night celebrating the successes of Island football was topped by the hugely popular Micky Porter winning the Charlie Binet Award for services to junior football, the trophy presented by Charlie’s widow, Joan.
