Also player/manager at the last Games in the Isle of Wight two years ago, Connelly claimed the only tennis medal for the Reds – a bronze in the men’s singles.

The 22-year old is the senior player in a young team which includes Stephen Le Cornu (19), Scott Weaver (19) – both of whom went to the 2011 Games – and professional player Scott Clayton (19).

Clayton will make his first Island Games appearance this summer and has been in fine form over the past 24 months – a period which includes being crowned national junior champion last summer.
