Band claims first World Tour scalp

The 18-year-old Appleby Academy player defeated Lebanon’s Anthony Fata in his final men’s open group match in Qatar and came through it 11-1, 11-6, 11-5, 11-7 for a 4-0 victory.

Band’s serves were tight, varied and loaded with spin while his opponent seemingly had no reply to the Jersey player’s attack as he rarely missed a winner, playing some of the best table tennis of his career.
