Royal wedding: The best moments of the day

Royal wedding: The best moments of the day

Here are some of the best moments from the royal wedding, as Princess Eugenie married Jack Brooksbank in Windsor:

– Bridesmaids and pageboys take a tumble

Little Princess Charlotte stumbled, and page boy Louis de Givenchy took a tumble while making their way up the West Steps of St George’s Chapel amid the windy weather.

But the youngsters carried on unperturbed into the church with special attendant Lady Louise Mountbatten-Windsor.

– George and Savannah make mischief

Chatty seven-year-old bridesmaid Savannah Phillips was spotted making pageboy Prince George laugh by imitating the trumpet players providing the fanfare.

Maud Windsor was spotted dancing to the music, before putting both her fingers up her nose and then into her mouth while they waited for the bride.

– Are you the Queen?

On leaving the chapel, Theodora, known as Teddy, asked ex-royal Sarah, Duchess of York in her American accent: “Are you the Queen?”.

– The arrival of the bride

Princess Eugenie looked stunning in her 1950s-inspired gown by Peter Pilotto and Christopher De Vos, which featured a wide fold-over neckline around the shoulders, fitted bodice, full pleated skirt and a long train.

The low back feature allowed Eugenie to proudly show the faint scars from back surgery she had as a child for scoliosis.

– Nervous and emotional groom

Jack Brooksbank nervously fidgeted, took his glasses on and off, rubbed his eyes and held his clenched hand to his mouth as he waited for his bride at the altar with his best man and brother Thomas.

He looked teary when Eugenie finally joined him at the altar.

– The weather

Guests battled against blustery conditions, holding onto their hats as they made their way into St George’s.

– The stars

Celebrities packed the pews for the ninth in line to the throne’s nuptials.

From supermodel Kate Moss to Hollywood actresses Demi Moore and Liv Tyler and singers James Blunt, Ellie Goulding and Ricky Martin, this royal wedding may not have drawn the crowds like the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s – but it rivalled it for high-profile guests.

– Fergie

Exuberant Sarah, the Duchess of York is often known for her over-enthusiastic mannerisms – and the wedding of her youngest daughter was no exception.

She rushed over to meet a member of the public, 83-year-old Jessie Huberty who was a friend of her late mother and embraced her with a large hug.
