Local products catch the eye at international show

La Mare Wine Estate exhibited their Taste of Jersey selection at The International Food & Drink Event in London recently and report that both their newest product and one of their oldest, attracted the most interest from the food industry’s national and international buyers.

La Mare spokesperson Suzanne Le Lay said that there were plenty of gins being exhibited at the show, following the huge popularity of the drink, but that their new Jersey raspberry-infused Pink Royal Gin caused quite a stir. ‘It seemed to stand out amongst the competition,’ Suzanne said.

Also very popular at the show, which was attended by close to 30,000 people, was La Mare’s very traditional Jersey Black Butter.

‘That’s always a favourite at trade shows like this, because people don’t know what it is, so they stop at the stand to find out about it,’ she said. ‘That was a big hit again.’

To have two products making a good impression is an achievement for Daniel de Carteret, La Mare’s head of production. He was at the show along with 1,350 other exhibitors. The event, which was held at the ExCel centre, is the biggest exhibition of its kind in the UK and attracts top retailers, foodservice buyers, wholesalers and distributors from all over the world.

Along with their new gin and their flagship product of Jersey Black Butter, the company also promoted their range of luxury handmade chocolates produced on site, including those with a Jersey salted caramel filling. Among the drinks on offer, were their Royal Gin range and their iconic Jersey Apple Brandy Cream Liqueur.

La Mare’s managing director Tim Crowley said: ‘As the La Mare Estate brands continue to grow, we see IFE as a great platform to promote our Taste of Jersey range of products to both a national and international audience. Jersey is the most southerly point in the British Isles and continues to produce a fantastic range of premium quality products.’
