Three in legal ‘hall of fame’
THREE Jersey lawyers have been named in the Legal 500 Hall of Fame, which lists the UK’s top practitioners.
Hall of Fame status is achieved by consistently being praised by clients for eight out of the past ten years for continued excellence.
Advocate Nuno Santos-Costa, Collas Crill’s Jersey managing partner, has been recognised by Legal 500 as a ‘Leading Individual’ for a number of years.
As well as continuing to be involved in some of the biggest litigation disputes in the Channel Islands, Advocate Santos-Costa is also a Crown Advocate, which allows him to present cases on behalf of Her Majesty’s Attorney General. This role allows him to prosecute in high-profile criminal cases, advise various departments of the States, and undertake investigations arising out of complaints against members of the Jersey Law Society.
In addition, Appleby partners Advocate Wendy Benjamin and lawyer Andrew Weaver have been recognised by The Legal 500 as ‘partners who are at the pinnacle of the profession’.
Advocate Benjamin, who is managing partner and local head of corporate in Jersey, is recognised for her work in banking and finance. She specialises in banking, corporate and commercial law, and has an excellent reputation in intellectual property, IT and data protection.
Mr Weaver has been recognised for his work in investment funds. He specialises in real estate, hedge and private equity funds, regulatory advice and corporate work in matters of Jersey and Cayman Islands law.
