A WOMAN who assaulted a man twice within the space of a month and smashed his phone has been placed on probation.
Leonie Francois Haynes (22) was sentenced for malicious damage and two assaults when she appeared in the Magistrate’s Court on Friday.
The court heard that Haynes damaged the man’s iPhone and assaulted him following an argument in June.
Parts of the incident were filmed by two members of the public and the footage was shown in court.
During a second argument in July, Haynes punched the man in the nose and grabbed his arm, leaving redness and scratches, while swearing at him.
The court heard that Haynes was remorseful and receiving support from Adult Mental Health Services.
Placing Haynes on probation for 12 months, Magistrate Bridget Shaw, said: “This is being put in place to help, not punish you.
“You really have to engage with the probation officer, and through that I hope you will learn to regulate yourself.”
