AN ACCLAIMED biographer is set to return to the Jersey Festival of Words this September to discuss his “explosive” new book.

Andrew Lownie, a biographer who has generated equal amounts of suspicion and praise, will be travelling to the Island following the publication of his latest book, Entitled.

‘Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York’, as the name suggests, is Lownie’s account of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson’s fall from grace.

The unofficial biography is built from what has been described as “revelatory new material” Lownie has gathered from four years of research, interviews and freedom-of-information requests.

Lownie will be in conversation with Lucy Cotter, Chair of the Jersey Festival of Words, at the Jersey Arts Centre on Saturday 26 September from 8:30 to 9:30pm.

The two will discuss the risks and realities of being a biographer today, especially for those like Lownie who are “known for investigations that challenge official narratives and uncover uncomfortable truths”. The Festival say that Lownie and Cotter will have a ‘frank and revealing conversation’.

In his new book, Lownie “offers a portrait of a monarchy under strain” through the former Duke’s life and scandals.

Andrew’s time in the Falklands, his business dealings and friendship with the pedophile Jeffrey Epstein are laid bare for his reader.

In the past, Lownie has explored the lives of the abdicated King Edward VIII and his wife Wallis Simpson, and even the Lord and Lady Mountbatten.

This event is one of more than 90 that the Jersey Festival of Words are holding between 18 and 27 September, across a range of venues including Jersey Library, the Freedom Centre, Millenium Park and more.
