ISLANDERS are being encouraged to lace up their trainers – and even don their favourite animal costumes – as part of a 13km fundraising run in aid of Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust.
Entries are now open for the 2026 Race for the Wild, which will take place on Sunday 12 July.
The event, inspired by the former Durrell Dash, will see participants set off from Victoria Park and finish at Jersey Zoo.
Race for the Wild is open to anyone aged 16 and over and has a cut-off time of two hours and 15 minutes to allow participants to run, jog or walk the route.
Attendees are also encouraged to embrace the wildlife theme by dressing up as their favourite animals.
Proceeds from Race for the Wild will support wildlife conservation projects around the world.
Durrell Wildlife chief executive Rebecca Brewer described the run as “a really unique sporting event in Jersey”, adding that even modest sponsorship totals could make “a real difference” to efforts to protect endangered species and restore ecosystems.
Islanders can sign up for the race online at raceforthewild.co.uk.
