LOGANAIR’s direct flights between the Island and Bordeaux got under way on Friday amid a wider expansion of the airline’s Jersey services to “provide more choice for Islanders”.
The service – connecting the Island to the UNESCO-listed wine capital for the first time – is the last in a quartet of new summer routes to be launched on the Scottish carrier’s Jersey network in recent months, that also includes Norwich, East Midlands and Paris.
The launch of the Paris service also marked the first time in Loganair’s history that it has flown to France.
The airline’s chief commercial officer, Ronnie Matheson, said: “These direct services provide more choice for Islanders while representing an opportunity for Jersey to reach new markets, further supporting the visitor economy.”
The Bordeaux route operates on Mondays and Fridays, running through to 5 October with fares starting from £86 one-way.
Dale Reeson, managing director at Jersey Airport, said: “It’s exciting to see new direct flights to Bordeaux commence, this combined with the recent launch of Paris services, means there are now five Loganair flights a week connecting Jersey with France.”
He continued: “This enhanced connectivity with Europe not only strengthens travel options for residents but also creates a valuable new gateway for visitors to discover everything our Island has to offer.”
Bordeaux Airport provides flights to over 82 destinations across 27 countries, offering connections across Europe and beyond.
Simon Dreschel, chief executive of Bordeaux Airport, said: “The launch of this service to Jersey and the arrival of a new airline at Bordeaux Airport further strengthen the diversity of our offering.”
He added: “This route creates a new opportunity to connect with English-speaking visitors who are particularly fond of our region.”
