TEN new police officers have been sworn in at the Royal Court.
The cohort, which took their oaths on Friday, includes former Jersey Reds rugby players, hospitality experts, a former fisher and a former Pride of Jersey Environmentalist of the Year finalist.
Training will be undertaken in Jersey over the next few months.
Meet the new cohort:
Nathan Bizouarn:
Nathan has over a decade of experience in health and fitness, and he worked as a rehabilitation support worker in the physiotherapy department at Jersey General Hospital. He wishes to bring his passion of helping people in to his new career.
Ruben De Freitas:
Aged 20, Ruben has an academic past in sport and exercise science and has coached young children. Ruben has also worked on door security, developing a sense of conflict management and protection.
Aurelian D Ursache:
Aurelian has a background in hospitality management on the island, since moving to Jersey from Romania. He has previously served as a volunteer for the St Helier Honorary Police alongside aiding Romanian speakers with interpretations at the hospital, and within the Magistrates’ and Royal Court.
Scott Dimmock:
With an extensive background in retail and hospitality, Scott is experienced in customer facing roles. He has also lived abroad in New Zealand, the USA, and England. He is highly motivated and loves a challenge, and said he was inspired to join the police to make his daughter proud.
Michael Haynes:
Michael has lived on the island since 2008. Since then, he has worked in multiple roles serving the public, including working in the Emergency Services Control room. Now, he wishes to continue serving the community.
Jack Higgins:
Jack arrived back in Jersey in 2020 to play rugby for Jersey Reds, after spending three years playing abroad in France. He has over 10 years of experience in professional sport, and enjoys staying fit and well at the gym. He is described to have a genuine desire to make a difference within the community, and does so with professionalism and integrity.
Rebecca Michieli:
Rebecca moved from Shoreham-by-Sea to Jersey in 2009, and has spent the last two yeats working in Baliffs Chambers, and has previously worked in international investor relations, for a company in South America. She also worked on her late father’s boat during COVID and as a personal assistant for a Jersey Family.
Roberta Ross:
Roberta was born and raised in Jersey, and hopes to make an impact during her time serving for the police. She has worked in the States of Jersey Police Control Room, responding to emergency and non-emergency calls, for the last three years. She says this is the perfect way in to policing.
Jade Watkins:
For the last six years, Jade has been working as a Civilian Support Officer in the Police Control Room. As part of this job, she worked in high pressure situations within a team. She has a 2:1 degree in Business Management, which was studied at the University College Jersey in partnership with Plymouth University.
Lewis Wynne:
Lewis was born in Scotland, and moved to Jersey from London in 2020. He played rugby for nine years, and has served as their captain for three years, leading them to the Championship Rugby League title in 2023. Since stepping away from Rugby, Lewis has worked in recruitment, as a Behavioural Support Assistant, and has taught under-18s rugby.
