WORLD-CLASS musicians are set to be in Jersey this weekend for the Island’s fourth International Guitar Festival.
The event, organised by charity Music in Action, takes place from Thursday 13 to Saturday 15 November.
Described as bringing three days of concerts and master classes, the event will showcase guitar in a range of styles including Spanish classics and gypsy jazz.
This year’s line-up includes classical guitarist Xuefei Yang – who was named by BBC Music Magazine as “one of the top six guitarists of the 21st century” – as well as improvising violinist Tim Kliphuis, guitarist Nigel Clark, and violinist Harriet Mackenzie.
The festival will also offer opportunities for young local musicians to learn and perform, with masterclasses and Q&A sessions allowing students to learn directly from professional artists.
Music in Action chair James Mews MBE said: “This year’s festival is a celebration of diversity in guitar music, welcoming new audiences while continuing to enrich our community.
“Whether you are a jazz lover, a classical enthusiast, or simply curious, the International Guitar Festival promises an unforgettable experience.
“The outreach work that we will be hosting creates experiences that inspire creativity, build confidence, and create memories for local school children.
“Every ticket purchased helps support this work, ensuring music continues to flourish in Jersey.”
All proceeds from the festival will be used to support the charity’s outreach work which aims to bring music to schools, care homes, and community settings across Jersey.
