THE 13th Parish Film Festival has gone from strength to strength since launching in 2019 and will be hosting a taster day tomorrow.
Jersey Arts Centre will host three screenings of international films starting tomorrow afternoon.
Festival Co-director, Úna Langlois, said: “This taster day gives an example of the kinds of films we screen, so it’s a bit of a view into what you can expect. It is however, only a small glimpse, but we hope an enjoyable one.
“These are films you wouldn’t otherwise see on the big screen on the Island. We feel the act of gathering together in person , to enjoy cultural cinema, is a very rewarding human interaction.”
3pm – Olivia & the Clouds (80 minutes): Produced in the Dominican Republic, by Tomas Pichardo Espaillat, Olivia and the Clouds is based on a love story between the title character who is haunted by a past love. The film explores the power of love’s memory using surreal and supernatural elements. This film is a 15+.
5:15pm – Smell of Burnt Milk (70 minutes): Produced in Germany by Justine Bauer, Smell of Burnt Milk follows three generations of female farmers doing their best to keep their farm running during a period when agriculture is under strain and suffering.
8.30pm – Ghosts of Alderney- Hitler’s Island Slaves (60 minutes): Artist Piers Secunda explores the hidden and little-known history of Alderney, revealing brand new evidence on the atrocities carried out by the Nazis on British soil during World War Two. Mr Secunda will be hosting a Q&A session after the screening.
