A CHARITY concert in memory of a former teacher and major figure in Jersey’s music scene is being held this weekend.
Colin Amos, who died last year, was the head of the Jersey Instrumental Service between 1990 and 2006 and was also head of music at Le Rocquier school.
On Saturday, Mark Willmett is hosting a charity concert, which will feature the Le Rocquier Big Band, the Les Quennevais All Star Steel Band and The Jersey Bounce. The concert is being staged in the hall at Les Quennevais School from 7pm.

Mr Amos was the leader of the Le Rocquier Big Band from 1976, while teaching at the school, and he stayed with them until their final concert in 2013. The band reunited to perform at his memorial service in 2024.
Under Mr Amos’s leadership, the band toured across the globe, performing in several major cities including Paris and New York.
This event intends to honour Mr Amos’s unwavering love of music and his personality with all proceeds going to Dementia Jersey.
Tickets for the event cost £20, and can be purchased here.
