A FAMILY-FRIENDLY fundraiser in memory of a 12-year-old, who died in 2022 from a rare type of bone cancer, is taking place next month.

Beth Phelps (12) died shortly after being diagnosed with Ewings Sarcoma. Her family have set up the March of the Inflatables – encouraging those taking part to wear a blow-up costume.

The fundraiser is a walk/run of around 2.5-3.5k going from Jardin de la Mer to The Lookout Caffe and back. Beth’s family explained that she loved to dress up and laugh- even through her battle with cancer and while receiving treatment. She longed to go trick-or-treating in an inflatable dinosaur costume for her birthday, following the end of her treatment. She did just that- and her parents view it as one of their fondest and funniest moments with her.

The event is supporting ‘Love Beth’, a charity fund set up after Beth’s battle, supported by Bone Cancer Research Trust.

The event will take place on Saturday 13 September, with a 10am start from Jardin de la Mer.
