A TRAINING exercise turned into a rescue for the Jersey Lifeboat Association which went to the aid of a vessel with engine issues off the south-west coast of Jersey.
The nine-metre boat got into trouble around six miles offshore and began drifting.
The crew of the JLA’s inshore lifeboat Albert Pinel were already on a Sunday morning training exercise and “quickly pivoted into action” after receiving the vessel’s location from the Coastguard, launching within minutes.
The JLA carried out welfare checks on the vessel’s crew on arrival and Albert Pinel towed the boat back to the Harbour.
“This incident highlights our crews unwavering dedication to not only their extensive training schedule but the many additional hours spend on the water assisting our island community,” a JLA spokesperson said.
