A local gym is set to host a boxing session this weekend to raise funds for a former JCG student who recently became a quadruple amputee following a severe infection.
BoxinBusiness is running a session this weekend to raise funds to give sports-loving islander Lily McGarry her independence back after she lost all four limbs following an aggressive infection.
The one-off boxing class will take place at Fort Regent on Saturday 3 May.

University student Lily was rushed to hospital in January with flu-like symptoms, which rapidly worsened into septic shock.
The 23-year-old was diagnosed with meningococcal septicaemia, a severe and aggressive infection.
Despite suffering two cardiac arrests, Lily fought for her life – but the infection caused severe blood flow issues, and the Cardiff medical student lost all four limbs as a result.
Her family recently launched a fundraising page to go towards the purchase of prosthetics for Lily – and all funds raised at this weekend’s boxing class will be donated to this cause.
One of the event organisers, Libby Rothwell, attended Jersey College for Girls with Lily.
She said: “Lily is a bright, beautiful, kind Jersey girl who has recently been ill with meningococcal septicaemia and has required amputations on all her limbs as a result.
“In order to access the independence, sports and active lifestyle that Lily loves, she requires advanced prosthetic limbs and ongoing medical support.”
Libby explained that, when speaking with Lily’s friends and other islanders, it became “apparent that people want to do more for Lily”.
“Allan and Ben Murray who run BoxinBusiness kindly offered to do a… session as it is something they have done before and had great success,” she said.
“Doing something like this gives the opportunity for the Jersey community to come together and support Lily through a fun, sweaty exercise class.”
Libby added: “If you are busy on Saturday but would still like to support, Daisy McAllister is organising a run along St Ouen beach on Sunday 4 May to also raise money for Lily.”
She said that both events would appreciate any support, in the form of both participation and donations.
“As a sporty girl herself we’re sure Lils would love to see everyone out and about supporting such a worthwhile cause, raising awareness for meningococcal septicaemia, and helping make her road to recovery as smooth as possible!” said Libby.
The boxing class for Lily is due to take place on Saturday 3 May at Fort Regent from 10:45 to 11:45.
You can book your place by messaging Libby on 07829 894900.
It will cost £15 per person, with all proceeds being donated to support Lily through her rehabilitation journey.
‘Run for Lily’ will take place the following day, Sunday 4 May, with participants setting off from La Braye at 09:00.
More information about the event can be found on Facebook.

Lily’s family have asked the public to avoid contacting her directly while she remains in a vulnerable position.
