Speeder disqualified after hitting 50mph in green lane

The Magistrate's Court (38837660)

A 24-YEAR-OLD man drove at 50mph along a green lane, the Magistrate’s Court has heard.

Callum James Le Seelleur was given a three-month driving ban after he sped along Rue de la Blinerie, in St Clement, in his grey Audi on the evening of 20 April.

He was also fined £685.

Rue de la Blinerie is a designated green lane, where cyclists and pedestrians have priority. All green lanes have a 15mph speed limit.

Le Seelleur said he thought the limit in the area was 30mph.

He had not registered the vehicle with DVS at the time of the incident, but he told the court he had only recently bought the car.

Advocate Sarah Dale, defending, said: “He is deeply remorseful about being in this situation.

“It was a very silly mistake, and it is a mistake he will never make again.”

But Relief Magistrate David Le Cornu told Le Seelleur he had no choice but to disqualify him.

He allowed the Islander to pay the fine at a rate of £50 per week.
