DEPARTING air passengers have been urged to allow extra time for their journeys this weekend as a result of the start of the half term holiday.

With schools breaking up on Friday, a large number of flights are scheduled across the weekend, prompting the advice from Ports of Jersey to leave plenty of time to check in hold luggage and clear security.

With work continuing to install a third new x-ray machine, the space for queuing passengers in the security area will be reduced. A spokesperson said this would not increase waiting times, but was liable to see the security queue stretching back into the departure hall.

Those who are driving to the airport have been reminded that there is an overflow car park available on the left shortly after entering the airport grounds, and that free parking is available for 30 minutes in the long-stay car park for those meeting arriving passengers,

Drivers heading from St Helier to the airport have also been reminded that there may be traffic delays resulting from the resurfacing of part of the westbound carriageway of the Esplanade during half term.
