A 24-YEAR-OLD woman who assaulted two other women in a street argument and kicked the glass door of McDonald’s has been given a six-month probation order.

Kaitlyn Jodie Coughlan pushed one of the women in the face on the evening of 26 February, after she heard her say ‘she’s a slag’ and mistakenly thought she was referring to her, the Magistrate’s Court heard.

St Helier Centenier Shirley Madden said that when one of the woman’s friends confronted Coughlan she was also pushed in the face and kicked.

Months later, just after midnight on 6 May, the States police arrested Coughlan for kicking the glass door of McDonald’s in Halkett Street and throwing objects at its windows.

When they tried to arrest her she lay on the ground, kicking her legs out.

Coughlan had been due to appear in the Magistrate’s Court on 7 June but failed to turn up. She admitted assault, being drunk and disorderly and failing to surrender to court.

Advocate Heidi Heath, defending, suggested a probation order.

‘She is an intelligent young woman who looks to the future and wants to make something of herself, but keeps messing up,’ she said.

Magistrate Bridget Shaw agreed to impose the order for six months, but said: ‘There have been a lot of previous convictions and a lot of probation orders in the past.’

She also fined Coughlan £200 for failing to turn up to court.
