THE Jersey Fire and Rescue Service’s inshore boat was recently tasked to two incidents in a single afternoon – prompting a warning about tide times.
At around 12.30pm on Monday two teenage boys were cut-off by the rising tide at Green Island and were helped ashore by JFRS rescue swimmers.
Less than two hours later the service was tasked to help a paddle boarder in difficulty at La Mare, who made it safely to shore before the inshore rescue boat arrived.
In a post on social media the JFRS said: ‘We are advising people who are exploring Jersey’s beaches and coastline to be aware of the tide times. It is surprising how quickly it can come in and surround you, so leave plenty of time to return to the safety of dry land. It is also a good idea to let someone know where you are going and when you expect to return, so that they can raise the alarm in your absence.’
