AN Islander who secretly took pictures of men using public toilets in St Helier has been sentenced to community service and placed on the Sex Offenders Register.

Marco Paulo Freitas Do Nascimento pleaded guilty to nine offences relating to voyeurism.

He was sentenced to 120 hours of community service, placed on the Sex Offenders Register for five years and given a five-year restraining order.

The Magistrate’s Court heard that the 31-year-old was arrested after he was seen attempting to take photos with his phone of a person in the public toilets of a car park in St Helier.

His description was given to the police, he was identified on CCTV and arrested the same day.

Do Nascimento’s phone was seized and found to contain a large number of photographs and videos of different men using various public toilets in St Helier. He pleaded guilty when he appeared in court in March.
