WORK will start this week to reconfigure the parking spaces at the Airport to make room for an extra 120 vehicles by the end of May.

Ports of Jersey say that the changes would help to accommodate the increasing number of passengers who had been using the site since parking promotions were introduced last year.

The company’s innovation manager, Marc Clayson, said: ‘We are pleased that our parking offers have proved popular and we have noted that on occasion there are not enough spaces to satisfy demand, so we are reconfiguring the spaces we have to allow more of our passengers to park their cars at the airport when they travel.’

The changes include extra entrance and exit points for both the arrivals and long-stay car parks, and hire cars will be relocated to a new area in the staff car park to free up more spaces.

The staff car park will also be available for use by passengers when the long-stay car park is full. There are additional plans for a new online system to be introduced later in the year which will enable spaces to be booked and paid for.
