AN 18-YEAR-OLD man has been arrested following an alleged grave and criminal assault near the Royal Square, which left a man needing hospital treatment.

Two men were involved in an altercation at around 2am on Sunday 5 February in the lane between Thompson Estates and the Pierson pub, according to the States police, who said ‘one of the men was punched several times resulting in him needing hospital treatment for some cuts to his face and a broken nose’.

Police said both men were with other people at the time: the injured man was with a female and was wearing a grey fitness style ¾ zip tip, dark jeans and white trainers, while the other man was accompanied by a male and both of them were described as being in their early 20s, with one of them wearing a white polo shirt, dark blue jeans, a black body warmer and black trainers.

An 18-year-old man was arrested later that day on suspicion of grave and criminal assault and has since been released on bail, while enquiries continue.

Anyone who may have seen this take place or who has any information is asked to contact police on 612612 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or via their Anonymous Online Form at Crimestoppers-uk.org
