PLANS have been submitted to demolish a five-bed bungalow and a one-bed cottage in St Saviour and build eight three-bedroom homes.

The application relates to the property known as Hideaway in Rue des Prés, in St Saviour, which, according to the applicants, is in ‘very poor condition’.

A submission to the government’s planning website by Morris Architects, on behalf of applicants Grange Developments, stated: ‘The brief is to demolish the existing dwellings and construct eight three-bedroom dwellings to modern standards with associated amenity and car parking.

‘The existing building is in very poor condition and has a multitude of inherent issues that would not be easily rectified and would not be economically viable to do so.

‘It is proposed that the existing buildings on site are removed to make way for a more sustainable form of development.’

In the planning application, the architects said that the proposed homes had been designed to avoid a negative impact on the neighbouring surroundings.

‘Prior to submitting this application, we have consulted with planning officer Gemma Vasselin to gain pre-application advice. The pre-application advice was favourable towards the replacement of the existing dilapidated dwellings with eight family homes. The proposed application has therefore been developed with consideration given to the comments received.

‘The immediate neighbouring properties have been given every opportunity to engage with the client and their architects to ensure that the application is reasonable and doesn’t adversely affect the enjoyment of their properties.

‘The size, mass and scale is also considered to be in relation to the existing context to again ensure that the proposed dwellings are reasonable and fit within the surrounding context and urban grain,’ the application added.
