WINDS gusting up to 70mph brought down trees across the Island last night – causing major traffic disruption during the morning commute.
A number of roads were blocked and dozens of others left strewn with debris.
Les Quennevais Sports Centre was also closed after part of the roof was damaged.
In a statement, the centre said: ‘The building at Les Quennevais has been damaged in the overnight winds and is closed for safety reasons. The Fire Service on the scene and members of the public are asked to please stay away.
‘We will provide an update for our customers as soon as possible. Thank you for your understanding.’
The winds are expected to decrease to F4 with some sunny spells expected this afternoon.

The States police have put out an update on Facebook warning Islanders of the many trees that are blocking roads.
Anyone who wishes to report a fallen tree can call the Infrastructure, Housing and Environment Department on 725351.
