THE Chief Minister has confirmed which politicians will join her government as assistant ministers.

Deputy Kristina Moore has chosen ten States Members who will take up assistant ministerial positions.

The Chief Minister will be assisted by two assistant chief ministers: Constable Andy Jehan and Deputy Alex Curtis.

Mr Jehan is one of four assistant ministers who were re-elected as States Members in last month’s election, along with Constable Richard Vibert, Deputy Steve Ahier and Deputy Louise Doublet.

In addition to Deputy Curtis, five other newly-elected Members have also been chosen: Deputy Lucy Stephenson, Deputy Hilary Jeune, Deputy Rose Binet, Deputy Elaine Millar and Deputy Malcolm Ferey.

Including the 12 members of the Council of Ministers, the 22-person government will have a 50:50 split between women and men.

Three of the ten assistant ministers are members of the Better Way coalition founded by Deputy Moore in the run-up to the election.

Deputy Moore said: ‘This is a strong and diverse team of assistant ministers, and I am very pleased they have agreed to serve as key members of the government. They add to the talent and different perspectives that we have on the Council of Ministers, and we will work together for the good of all Islanders to meet the challenges we face and to put Jersey back on track.

‘This will be a government that will strive to be open, visible and accessible and will listen to all members of our community. Assistant ministers will play a central part in meeting these objectives.’

Several assistant ministers have been given more than one portfolio.
