FLYING was suspended at the Airport on Tuesday afternoon after a light aircraft went off the western end of the runway.

A total of four people – two adults and two children – were onboard the plane which came to rest on an ‘arrestor bed’ above St Ouen’s Bay. No injuries have been reported.

Arrestor beds are usually formed of soft concrete or gravel and is is designed to stop any aircraft rolling over it.

Several flights have already been cancelled or diverted due to thick fog which has been hanging over much of the Island for most of the day.

More to follow.
