The sale of the J4 registration eclipses the previous record for number plates which stood at £91,000 for J68.
Lieutenant-Governor Air Chief Marshal Sir Stephen Dalton donated the plate to fund the purchase of a new electric car to replace one of Government House’s existing diesel-powered cars.
The sale was held on Saturday morning at Glencoue auctions.
