A NEW weekly series titled Family Meals for a Fiver is being launched in the Jersey Evening Post today.
The feature is being run in conjunction with the Co-op and aims to help cash-strapped Islanders during the current cost-of-living crisis by offering easy-to-follow recipes for low-cost family meals.

All recipes featured in Family Meals for a Fiver are being created by local chefs, cafe owners and restaurateurs with ingredients bought from the Co-op for a combined total cost of £5 or less.
The first edition of the series in today’s JEP Weekend supplement sees Bohemia Bar & Restaurant head chef Callum Graham showcasing three original recipes, each of which is capable of feeding a family of four.

‘I would say the experience as a whole has been a bit of an eye-opener,’ said Mr Graham. ‘As long as you make a list and have a plan then family meals can still be tasty and exciting, even when shopping on a £5 budget.’
The JEP and Co-op will also be inviting readers to send in their own budget family-friendly recipes, with £50 worth of shopping from the Co-op available as a prize for the best recipe recieved each week, as chosen by the featured chef.
