Teacher to be sentenced for sex offence against girl under 18
A TEACHER will be sentenced next month after he admitted committing a sex offence against a girl under the age of 18.
The man entered a guilty plea yesterday before Assistant Magistrate Peter Harris to one count of being a person in a position of trust and intentionally inciting the girl, referred to in court as Miss X, to engage in sexual activity.
Police legal adviser Lauren Hallam said she believed the offence was one which could be dealt with in the lower court and Assistant Magistrate Peter Harris accepted jurisdiction and set a sentencing date of 21 August.
The defendant was represented by Advocate Matthew Jowitt.
He was released on conditional bail and his name was to be immediately added to the Sex Offenders Register.
